Since I never posted photos of our old house, it may not interest you to know we moved into a new one. Nevertheless, this is where we live now, and we like it a lot.
There is another room and a big skylight not pictured. We have a private entrance and are on the bottom floor. There is one more floor above us where our landlords live + a roof. Rent is about $150 a month.
Inshallah we'll make it a bit homier, because we're setting up camp for a couple more years.

wow! what an experience. how are you liking it? i love all the tile! so youre there for three more years!?
I love the tile too. Cleaning is super easy. I basically just flood the house and push the water towards the drain. There are definitely ups and downs, but more ups than downs. We have been here for 9 months and have 18 left to go!
this totally takes me back to living in china. awesome, jules. love the design there. so cool. what's next for you two? would love to hear from you sometime :) xo
