Douniya

In celebration of International Women's Day this week, I wanted to share about one woman I love and respect. This is my sister Douniya. 

She lives with her family in Fes, Morocco. She is 27 years old, and if she could taste one food, it would be pizza. Douniya is the 2nd oldest in her family. She likes to cook and is excellent at it. She isn't yet married, and often jokes about going to the souq to buy a good husband. I have a hard time believing she could find one that deserves her. She is constantly serving others, especially Zach and I. She is faithful; quietly removing herself to pray 5 times a day. She is kind, patient, and welcoming, teaching me how to live in her culture. Her goal is to love a happy life. In the future, she wants to become a cook, seamstress, and mother in her own home. Although she currently lives in a city, she would like to live in the country where it is quiet and beautiful. If she could have one wish, she wishes health and peace for all of the world. 

I have learned a lot from her, and am really grateful for everything she does for us.
