In late March my parents were able to find some time to slip away and come visit us in Morocco. They came bearing the essentials: Reese’s, beef jerky, and boiled peanuts. They impressed us by arriving in country, locating the train station, and making there way to our site without someone to guide or translate. Coincidentally, our friend Tyson was also traveling through and stayed with us while my parents were visiting.
Although they were only here for an extended weekend, we were not only able to spend some time in Sidi Slimane, but also visit Volubilis, Moulay Idriss, Meknes, Chefchouen, Moulay Boulselham and finally Tangier.
We bird watched, people watched, hiked up city alleys, rode down country mountain passes, caught up on old times, ate tajines, kefta, and street foodand and, of course, every night played the family favorite, South American Rummy. I’m glad they were able to visit us and get a taste of what our life has been for the past year.
